RECIPES – SUGAR COOKIES

 

INGREDIENTS :

Flour – 8 cups

Butter (soft) – 2 cups

Sugar – 2 ¼ cups

Eggs – 5

Baking Powder – 3 tsp

Salt – 1 ½ tsp

Vanilla – 1 tsp

 

 

YIELD :

This will make a giant batch, you can always freeze some of the dough and make cookies later. Or decrease the ingredients.

 

INSTRUCTIONS :

 

Preheat Oven 375°F

 

BOWL # 1

Sift flour, baking powder and salt.

 

BOWL # 2

Cream butter and sugar on medium speed about 3-5 min.

 

BOWL # 3

Combine eggs, milk and villa well.

 

 

COMBINE INGREDIENTS

Alternate adding the contents of bowl 1 and 3 to bowl 2(butter mixture). Blend until fully incorporated after each addition.

 

GET THE DOUGH READY (Let it Chill)

Divide into 2-4 portions, wrap tightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate until firm enough to roll. One hour is sufficient.

 

ROLL THE DOUGH

Using one portion at a time, roll dough out on a lightly floured surface. Roll to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters of choice. If you do not plan to decorate with icing you can sprinkle cookies with coarse sugar.

 

BAKE

Bake about 12 min. Until golden around the edges.

 

LET COOL

Remove from oven let sit in cookie sheet for a minute then transfer to a cooling rack to let cool completely. Once cool it is time to decorate. Oh the fun that can be had with royal icing and food coloring J
