A perfect tea time treat

Ingredients

All-purpose flour – 2 cups

Sugar – ¼ cup

Baking powder – 2 ½ tsp

Salt – ¼ tsp

Butter (cold, unsalted cut into ½ inch cubes) – ½ cup

Heavy whipping cream (chilled) – 1 cup

Preheat oven 425°F

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

In a bowl mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Add the cold butter, and mix in with hands, leaving butter in some small thick clumps.

Add the cream, mix together with hands.

Lightly flour a surface.  Pat the dough down evenly making about 1 ½ inches thick and 6 – 7 inches in diameter on your floured surface. Use a circular cutter to cut out the scones.

Place the scones on the parchment lined baking sheet.

Bake the scones at 425°F for about 12-14 minutes. They should start to turn golden brown on the edges.

Makes 10-12 scones

Best served warm with butter, jam and cream!
